§ 6. Nonconforming buildings and structures.

  • (a)

    Any residential use group building which lawfully existed on the effective date of this ordinance and which is not in conformity with any one or more of the provisions of this ordinance, and any residential use group building which lawfully existed on the date of adoption of any amendment to this ordinance and which is not in conformity with such amendment, shall be deemed nonconforming.

    (b)

    Any extension, enlargement, relocation, reconstruction or substantial alteration of a nonconforming residential use group building shall be subject to the acoustical performance standards as set forth in section 5 of this ordinance unless otherwise modified by the building official pursuant to applicable provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.
