§ 23-9.1. Audible intruder alarms to be equipped with bell/siren cutoff.

  • (a)

    No person shall install, maintain, or operate, or cause to be installed, maintained, or operated, any intrusion alarm device or system which causes a siren, bell or other audible response to be sounded outside an enclosed building or other structure, unless such alarm device or system incorporates a functioning sound cutoff timer which shall automatically silence any audible signal after a period not exceeding ten (10) minutes in any location zoned for residential use, and fifteen (15) minutes in any other location. The provisions of this section shall become effective April 1, 1989.

    (b)

    Any person violating this section shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.
